Atelier Versace Spring 2015

by Daid Pedroza, editor in chief

Last night Donatella Versace kicked off the couture week calendar with the Atelier Versace Spring 2015 collection. I must say there was no lack of sex appeal or glamour on the runway, nor the absents of a 1990's super model; The runway show closed with Eva Herzigova and Amber Valletta.  What impressed me the most was the restrain in beading and print in the first half of the collection, which focused on cut and tailoring. Exquisite tailored day pieces, emphasizing the female figure, with body hugging curved seams, and curved shaped edges that brought an elegant sexiness. The color palette, also restricted to white, black, red, and cobalt blue. No one can mistake the Alexander Calder tear drop cut a ways, or the japanese emoji-beaded mini dresses, which are perfectly executed on a silk crepe bustier. Although, Versace has been noticed for a star studded front row, they also proved they have a clientele demanding clothes from Maison Versace. This was also a testament on the skills that their esteemed atelier possess, creating beautiful, wearable clothes, in the highest standards of craftsmanship.
